Understanding Alerts and Notifications

Modified on Wed, 18 Feb at 2:30 PM

Lake Pulse allows you to receive alerts and notifications about your lake based on how you configure your account.

Alerts are fully configurable within your account settings.

What triggers an alert?

Alerts can be triggered by:

  • Threshold breaches (for example, water quality levels)

  • Manual updates from a Lake Admin

  • External data updates

  • New Field Notes or photos being added

Which alerts you receive depends entirely on how you configure your preferences in your account settings.

In some cases, none may trigger. In other cases, all may trigger. You control this.

Alert levels

Lake Pulse includes three alert severity levels:

  • Critical Alert

  • Medium Alert

  • Minor Alert

These levels help indicate the relative importance of the update.

Alert categories

You can choose which categories you want to receive alerts for, including:

  • Water Quality Alert

  • Beach and Swimming Alert

  • New Data Source Available

  • Data Library Refreshed

  • Field Note Added

  • General Notification

  • Portal Update

You decide which categories are relevant to you.

How alerts are delivered

Alerts are delivered via:

  • Email

You can enable or disable delivery methods within your account settings.

How to configure your alerts

  1. Log in to your Lake Pulse account

  2. Go to your account settings

  3. Select Alerts

  4. Choose your preferred:

    • Alert level

    • Alert categories

    • Delivery method

Changes apply immediately.

If your lake has no Lake Admin

Even if your lake does not currently have a Lake Admin, you will still receive alerts when:

  • A new Field Note is added

  • A new photo is added
